Isn't it normal to be unpredictable..

As human beings, we despise chaos. We want circumstances, relationships, others and ourselves(!) to be stable, consistent, predictable.
But I wonder, what if it's not possible. What if change really is the only constant.

I was talking to a friend, and suddenly he said,
                       "Life is always wanting balance.
If you attain balance, it will disturb that too,
and then you need a new balance.
So, there is no fixed balance as such, it keep changing
It may have served you to have certain constraints in the past
It maybe now time to loosen some
and then get back some others, to get to a new equilibrium"

But words are all I have

Gratitude is too small a word..
for the endless bicycle trips around town...
for the endless one rupee ice creams
for the affectionate yet disastrous attempts at cooking ..
for sacrificing hours of sleep to ensure I don't lose a second..
for standing outside my school gate daily morning to meet ..
and for making sure I reach home safe after school..
for the neatest handwriting I've ever seen ...
for being the epitome of excellence and perfection..
for giving me wings and then letting me fly away..
for trusting me more than I trust myself..
for giving enough love to last a lifetime and more..
for being my strong old man..
and for letting me be your weakness..
oh and yes, for giving me my mom
and finding the best groom in the world for her
Gratitude truly is too small a word..

The Gol Gappa Analogy

This happened a couple of years back, but was memorable enough for me to think of writing about it.

I was walking down the road to have my favorite evening snack- road side gol gappe (aka Paani puri) with some friends. Suddenly I saw a friend, who had recently gotten engaged, coming towards us from  the opposite end with his fiance.

I invited them to join us, fully aware that this friend of mine(let's call him Arun) doesn't like street food because of hygiene concerns. Since his fiance loves paani puri, they agreed to join.

What's with women and paani puri, any way? Let's leave that inquiry for another post.

We reached the paani puri guy, and while chatting I teased the girl: So, I am guessing now you will soon make Arun learn to have street food?

She smiled and replied:  First I need to learn to give it up :).

Profound, I thought. Sums up just about everything needed to have beautiful relationships.

The ultimate attachment called a personality..

I kneel before You... at the right time and the right place..
but then I wonder,
if You are there, Every where..
then additions and subtractions really don't matter..
Number of breaths make no difference.. nor does the one who breathes..
