The Gol Gappa Analogy

This happened a couple of years back, but was memorable enough for me to think of writing about it.

I was walking down the road to have my favorite evening snack- road side gol gappe (aka Paani puri) with some friends. Suddenly I saw a friend, who had recently gotten engaged, coming towards us from  the opposite end with his fiance.

I invited them to join us, fully aware that this friend of mine(let's call him Arun) doesn't like street food because of hygiene concerns. Since his fiance loves paani puri, they agreed to join.

What's with women and paani puri, any way? Let's leave that inquiry for another post.

We reached the paani puri guy, and while chatting I teased the girl: So, I am guessing now you will soon make Arun learn to have street food?

She smiled and replied:  First I need to learn to give it up :).

Profound, I thought. Sums up just about everything needed to have beautiful relationships.
